Navigator 8.1 brings point-precise truck routing

Navigator 8.1 for Android brings More Precise Truck Routing and New Integration Options

MapFactor has released the latest version of its popular navigation app, MapFactor Navigator for Android. Version 8.1 delivers significant improvements focused primarily on professional truck drivers, while also expanding integration capabilities for business and logistics solutions.

More Precise Truck Route Planning

The key new feature is Precision Truck Routing, which brings a new level of accuracy to truck navigation. Navigator now works with point-level data on road restrictions, such as low bridges, weight-limited structures, and other obstacles.

Compared to previous versions, where restrictions were applied to entire road segments, Navigator 8.1 uses the exact position of individual obstacles. This enables more accurate route calculation and vehicle guidance.

As a result, drivers can be safely guided, for example, to a loading or unloading point located just before a restriction — and from the correct direction.

This significantly reduces the risk that navigation:

  • fails to find a suitable route to the destination,

  • or directs the vehicle to an unsuitable access road.

The result is more reliable navigation, especially in complex urban and industrial areas where such restrictions are common.

Offline Map Import Without Internet Connection

Navigator 8.1 also introduces the ability to import offline maps from a USB device called MapStick. TomTom maps stored on a flash drive can be easily transferred to Navigator Truck Pro and Car Pro without requiring an internet connection.

This feature is particularly valuable for drivers operating in areas with limited or no connectivity. The app now also includes a simple interface and step-by-step guidance to make the import process quick and straightforward.

Enhanced Integration for Businesses and Developers

Navigator 8.1 expands its integration capabilities by supporting new Android intent formats, including routes with multiple waypoints.

This makes it possible to:

  • launch Navigator directly from another application,

  • automatically pass a complete route including all stops,

  • and start navigation immediately based on predefined parameters.

These enhancements open up new opportunities for integration with logistics systems, dispatching solutions, and telematics platforms. Companies can now more easily connect their own software with professional navigation and deliver improved services to their customers.
